Things We’ve Fixed This Summer (and Things We Still Need To)
This summer, we’ve poured concrete, patched pens, tightened fence lines, replaced mower blades, and rebuilt a busted gate.
And yet—this morning at sunrise—we got a phone call: “Hey, do y’all have four yearling bulls with purple tags?” (Yes. Yes we do.)

Apparently, our boys had decided to go on a little walkabout. A kind rancher down the road caught them and penned them up until we could get there.
So, we added “bull fencing audit” to the list… again.
Because no matter how much you fix, reinforce, or double-check, something else always finds a way to break, bend, or bolt. That’s just part of the rhythm here.
🔧 Things we’ve fixed this summer:
- A pig pen that looked like it lost a fight with a backhoe
- A garden liner that the wind tried to take to Kansas
- An irrigation line that likes to flood over
- The chicken coop door (again)
📋 Things still left to fix:
- Whatever the bulls broke
- A stretch of old fence we’ve been ignoring since May
- Our pride… just a little
This life teaches you to laugh, to learn, and to always keep a good neighbor’s number on speed dial.
Because out here, you don’t ask if something’s going to break. You ask what time.
