Farm Journal, Day 1651

Meet 947L – Lil’ Lou

To say we’re excited about this gal would be an understatement. The fourth calf born on LAAN Limousin Ranch is FINALLY a heifer!

Born on March 18, 2023, Lil’ Lou is named in honor of the Brown’s Limousin legacy. This 83-lb girl has trait-leading genetics for weaning weight (WW), yearling weight (YW), and milk (MK). These important expected progeny differences (EPDs) will help us add desirable traits to our growing herd and future calves.

She was sired by Highland Boston, the top-selling Canadian bull in 2015. He is a purebred Limousin sired by MAGS War Admiral, the most accomplished breeding sire who is also the sire of a Canadian National Champion Female.

Her mother is 947G – Grayson. This cow was our first purchased heifer and we have been nothing but impressed by her maternal efficiency and beauty. Sired by TMCK CAMDEN YARDS 195C, her numbers indicate her sons and daughters will come easy, grow rapidly, and possess impressive carcass figures.

Lil’ Lou is an exciting start to our 2023 Spring breeding cycle. Stay tuned for highlights on more calves coming to the LAAN Limousin fields soon!
