Farm Journal, Day 1490

And…. it’s another bull.

We had our third calf today, a 77-lb healthy bull. For those keeping score, this is our third bull calf. We were hoping for a heifer so we can continue our breeding program, but another bull is not a show stopper.

Because it is the year of K, our new little guy has been named 603K – Keeper.

We just about have Jukebox raised to either breed or sell. If this little new guy is anything like his half brother, then a year from now we will have a second bull raised to either breed or sell.

Keeper will be our only fall calf this season. We have two more babies due in the Spring. They will be the year of L. Anyone have any good names to submit for future calves to be named later?

For the reset of the JBARJ cows living on LAAN Limousin Cattle Ranch, fall calving season is coming to a close, with just a few babies due to arrive. This has been a pretty exciting year with one set of healthy twins and many beautiful red and black calves running wild through the pastures. It’s always fun watching them grown from awkward newborns into naughty, rambunctious calves.
