“Puberty. Yeah, I’m having lots and lots of puberty.”
Monster House, 2006
On the ranch, the kids, the weeds, the grass, the garden, and the calves are growing. And, as the sounds coming from our mini bull pen indicate, almost everything on the ranch reaches puberty. Jukebox is 9 months old and begging the ladies to notice him.

Listening to the noises on the ranch makes me smile. Especially as I recall life on a suburban cul-de-saq. Though the noises of the city are a lot different than the noises that surround us today – things are by no means quieter. The sights and smells are louder too.
Driving through the fields when our youngest was in 2nd grade, she declared, “That man cow needs some pants on!” Today, that little girl is almost a 6th grader and bulls in the field or a bore in the pig pen doesn’t even cause her pause. It’s just part of the scenery, especially during certain times of the year.
Jukebox isn’t ready to be introduced officially to the ladies. But, when he is, we hope his babies are just as strong as he was and grow just as fast as he did. His numbers sure look promising, as does the future of LAAN Limousin Cattle Ranch.
