
We purchased this 62 percent Lim-Flex female at the 16th Annual Great American Pie Sale, hosted by the Missouri Limousin Breeders Association, in 2021. Offered by Pinegar Limousin, 603G came to the ranch just starting out her career as a momma (a pregnant heifer).

Growing up in suburbia, my experience with livestock came from our annual visit to the National Western Stock Show in Denver. We’d watch the rodeo; walk through the exhibits gathering bags of swag; and then gawk at the rows and rows of haltered cattle being groomed, clipped, and blow-dried by cattlemen – or cattlemen’s children.

When running a herd of cattle, knowing how to spot an illness early is the difference between life and death. Some illnesses are mild, some are common, and most we can vaccinate to prevent. The others, we have to do our best to avoid and then be ready to spot and treat.

Some beekeepers order their bees and then they are delivered through the mail. But, I have decided to order local and pick up my bees from Buzz Beekeeping in Rogersville, MO.
